Digital Influence Blog

Welcome to the digital influence blog. This blog was designed to discuss the evolution of the social web and some of the new tools that are re-defining the digital world as we know it today. In short, the atmoshpere of the online world has changed. A channel that was once crowded by click-throughs, ad banners, and spam; the internet has turned into a community that listens less often to the enterprise but instead to users like themselves. Why has this happened?

I find this topic extremely intriging and something that is worth exploring. In a time where internet and global communication has taken control, I beleive it is important to recognize our ever changing society as it relates to the online world. I remember about ten years ago getting internet for the first time in my household and thinking that the possibilties to this technology were endless. Here we are some time later, and I still believe the power and influence of this phenomenon are endless. Advertisings has now been stickend to being most effective in the form of pop ups and web-based home pages. Shopping can be done without leaving your chair, and communication can be done in seconds from anywhere in across the globe. I appriciate your querry on this topic and look forward to hearing your response. Hopefully in time we can find a common meeting area over a cocktail and dicuss this matter further...

You are absolutly right, Web 2.0 is revolutionizing the way humans interact. The big buzzword being thrown around at the moment is "Collaboration", which is one of the many benefits of 2.0 technologies. On the enterprise side of things, companies are going to have to adapt to the technological/social changes and embrace a less hierarchical communication structure that utilizes tools such as blogs, wikis forums etc. This will take time, but the this is only really the beginning of a digital era in which people will remain constantly connected in what used to be a channel,(internet) to a real-world communication environment.
